The annex for a person aged 15 or over — Anlage WEPSource: arbeitsagentur.de — Link last checked: 23.09.2026
Anlage WEP – the annex for a person aged fifteen or over
The Anlage WEP is the sheet for every person aged fifteen or over in the Bedarfsgemeinschaft other than the applicant. A spouse, a child who has turned fifteen, a partner — each gets their own.
Anyone who has not yet reached fifteen goes on the Anlage KI. Someone who shares the home without belonging to the Bedarfsgemeinschaft — a relative, a flatmate — belongs on the Anlage HG.
The current version runs to seven pages.
A and B – the person and the relationship
Your details, then theirs in full. Then the relationship, and that choice decides what else is needed:
- a child, a partner’s child, an adopted child.
- a spouse or registered civil partner.
- an unmarried partner — with the Anlage VE.
- a relative or in-law such as a sibling or grandparent — with the Anlage HG.
- any other person — with the Anlage VE.
The ability-to-work question
The form asks whether the person is erwerbsfähig, and defines it on the spot: in principle healthy enough to work at least three hours a day, regularly.
The definition matters because it is wider than people expect. Illness does not by itself settle the answer, as long as three hours a day remain possible.
The questions that pull in other annexes
- pregnancy, with the expected date. If the father is outside the Bedarfsgemeinschaft, the Anlage UH2 goes with it.
- for a person between fifteen and eighteen: living alternately in two households.
- for a person under twenty-five with a parent outside the Bedarfsgemeinschaft: the Anlage UH3.
School, study, training
Whether the person is a pupil, a student or an apprentice. A yes needs proof attached. Then: costs for schoolbooks and exercise books, and whether the person lives away from home because of the training.
This section carries more weight than it looks. Some students and apprentices are outside Jobcenter support because a different route exists for them — BAföG or BAB — and the form asks about exactly that in the next field.
Other benefits applied for, or intended
A list to tick: BAföG, BAB, Wohngeld, Arbeitslosengeld, a pension, Krankengeld and others, with proof wherever possible.
The principle behind it: the Jobcenter is the last office, not the first. What another office could pay has to be asked for there first — which is why the form asks even about what is only intended.
Mistakes that keep happening
- One annex covering two people.
- A WEP for a child under fifteen. That is a KI.
- Putting a relative who shares the home on a WEP when they belong on an Anlage HG.
- Answering no to the ability-to-work question because of illness, when the test is three hours a day.
- Not mentioning a benefit that is only planned.
