The Short Form for Extending Kinderzuschlag – KiZ 1-K

When a Kinderzuschlag award period ends, it does not mean starting the whole journey again. If nothing substantial has changed, a short form called KiZ 1-K is usually enough.

It is one of the biggest time-savers in dealing with the Familienkasse, and yet many families do not know it exists and fill in the entire file again for no reason.

When the short form is enough

It is used when circumstances have stayed the same: the same income, the same home, the same number of children. If income has changed, or you have moved, or the household has grown or shrunk, the full application with its annexes is required.
